Joanna Glass is a classically-trained musician, recording engineer, composer, and arranger. Her introduction to music began with violin lessons at the age of nine. Glass continued her studies until becoming a Violin Performance Major at Cole Conservatory (Long Beach, California). Glass has since played with numerous orchestras, in recording sessions, and toured in the UK with noted artist Betty Steeles.
By the age of fourteen and while still in high school, Glass enrolled into Long Beach City College’s Recording Engineering program and successfully graduated in 2005. While owning and operating her music production studio, Glass recorded music for video game composers and mixed sound for the film A Promise that was featured at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival.
Not only credited for producing, engineering, and designing the graphics for her band, Glasspirits’ latest album, Mysteries of Rhythm, Glass also sang, played guitar, violin, keyboards, and wrote many of the tunes. When playing live, the Glasspirits band performs as a duo that includes percussionist, Abe Perez, who engages soulful afro-Cuban-rock rhythms into their overall musical landscape. When asked, “How would you describe your music?” Glass responds, “It’s music with no boundaries. . . it’s music for everyone.”
