Gretsch artist since 2017, playing the drums has always been a huge part of Jody Giachello’s life. His father began teaching him how to play the drums at two years of age and his involvement in jazz bands from middle school to college helped drive his lifelong passion for music. After attending Berklee College of Music where he studied privately with Afro-Cuban and Brazilian jazz drummer Francisco Mela and was involved with legendary jazz trombonist Hal Crook’s ensemble for several semesters, he then had the privilege of performing at The Rose Bowl, touring with Concord Records jazz prodigy Taylor Eigsti, and playing with the house band for late-night NBC program Last Call with Carson Daly.
Before joining the HAIM sisters, Giachello had kept himself busy performing with the world’s largest touring magic show The Illusionists, which toured internationally and played 2 record-breaking runs on Broadway. Playing drums for the Los Angeles-based punk/hardcore band Chotto Ghetto for the past 11 years, and producing and releasing 3 albums under his Fourth Dimension alias.
His current band Haim is an American pop rock band from Los Angeles. The band consists of three sisters: Este Haim (bass guitar and vocals), Danielle Haim (vocals and guitar), and Alana Haim (guitars, keyboards, and vocals). In addition to their primary instruments, each member is also proficient in several others. The group’s pop sound on their studio work stands in contrast to the more rock-based music of their live shows.
